Course Topics

  • Yoga Techniques/Training & Practice - Includes asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, mantras, meditation and other traditional yoga techniques of Hatha & Vinyasa Yoga. Analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques and  guided practice of the techniques themselves. 
     

  • Teaching Methodology - Demonstration, observation, verbal and physical adjustments, teaching styles, use of voice, body language, class development and sequencing, creating a yoga experience, student/teacher communications and ethics, paperwork, marketing, and other business aspects of being a yoga teacher. Modifications & Variations for Children & Seniors
     

  • Anatomy and Physiology - Human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, koshas, nadis, etc.). Includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc).
     

  • Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle, and Ethics for Teachers - The study of yoga philosophy based on the Yoga Sutras, yoga lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers. Includes Ayurveda, history of yoga, conscious yoga living & nutrition. 
     

  • Practicum - Includes practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and hearing and giving feedback. Also includes assisting students while someone else is teaching.
     

  • ElectivesHealing Yoga(yoga therapy), Partner Yoga, Restorative. Lecture and applications of other healing modalities & principles such as Tai Chi, Qigong, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Reiki and Pranic Healing. We will discuss comparisons and how they relate to Yoga.

    *In this particular training, we are focusing more on the basic traditional healing aspect of Yoga and will be discussing other healing arts as well. We will offer "yoga intensive" practice, but suitable and adjustable for everyone of all physical disciplines.*
